tiers of support

This framework represents EAUFSD’s integrated continuum of supports and strategies. These tiers refer to the level of support that students receive, not to the students themselves. Each tier supports our continued commitment to fostering the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to develop a healthy sense of self, a holistic appreciation for others, & the desire to make a positive impact in the community. East Aurora's Collaborative Approach to Wellness

In the 2023-2024 school year, the East Aurora Union Free School District's Values and Visions Committee—comprised of representative groups including teachers, counselors, administrators, support staff and teacher aids—collaborated to develop a district-wide vision for student and staff wellness implementation. This vision is designed to align with other district initiatives, such as Restorative Practices, Social Emotional Learning, Kagan training, Character Strong, and Service Learning.

How does Restorative Practice tie into our approach?

Restorative Practices (RP) are a set of strategies aimed at building strong, positive relationships and fostering a sense of community within schools. In East Aurora Schools, RP plays an important role in whole student approach by promoting a culture of empathy, accountability, and collaboration among students and staff.

  • Restorative practices, such as restorative circles and community-building activities, help students develop key skills like emotional regulation, active listening, and problem-solving.

  • Restorative practices support our whole student approach by spaces where students feel safe, valued, and empowered to express themselves while learning to understand and respect others' perspectives.

  • Restorative practices operate on a continuum from informal to formal, used proactively to build healthy relationships and community, as well as responsively to address conflict.

  • Our district trains K-12 cohorts in Restorative Practices, adding new members each year to ensure every school has a RP dedicated team.
